Butter Braid Fundraiser

Peninsula Wrestling Club is beginning its annual “Butter Braid” Fundraiser.    The total profit from each butter braid sold is $5.00/ $4.00 to the wrestler and $1.00 to the club.  The way this fundraiser will work is for each butter braid sold the wrestler will get $4.00 applied to a spreadsheet account.  The goal of this fundraiser is to help reduce the cost for those wrestlers/families that are planning on going to Western Regionals in Pocatello, Idaho in June.

Coach Pittman will issue each family a check before the event.  However, you may use your fundraising money to help pay for club dues.  Butter Braid orders are due back on October 19 and must have all the sales money with the order form.  Please put your wrestler’s name and phone number on the order form so you can be contacted when your order arrives.

Note From Coach Pittman

To all Peninsula wrestlers and supporters, we need your help.

Last year Peninsula wrestling took 64 people to the Western Regionals Wrestling Tournament in Pocatello Idaho for 8 days. This year our goal is to take 100 people to the same tournament in Pocatello Idaho. This takes lots of organization and money, about $15,000 for 8 days. This is why coach Pittman is asking for your help.

It takes a special person like you to understand the challenges facing America’s youth;  to appreciate the heartache of facing the future that suddenly seems empty of hope and promise.

It takes a special person to lend a helping hand when it is so easy to look the other way.

Your support means more than you can imagine to our program, it means hope for a complete fulfilling year for our youth.

Your support restores the hope and promise that once seemed so far away, any amount you can give will help.

Money can be sent to Peninsula Wrestling Club,

700 north Rosa Parks way

Day 5 By Spencer Barnett

Today was a very tense day! We only have a few kids left in Greco.
I made it four rounds wrestling and losing to the #1 kid I did my best today
and I think that our team did very well today. Tomorrow will be a brand new day
and freestyle is coming up. I have made many new friends from many different
states like California, Arizona and Hawaii.

Day 5 By Aaron Blaine

June 22nd
Today I awoke at 5:45 and got ready. My mom washed some clothes for me. :-) I put on some clothes and went downstairs to eat. The food was gross :P . I then went to my mom’s room and brushed my teeth. I came up and got my bag and went downstairs. When I got to the stadium I warmed up. Today was Greco babe!! :D . My First match I wrestled Josh Reyes from Cobra, he beat me with shoulder throws. It hurt a lot! :( The second match I wrestled I tried some stupid arm throw and got caught. I lost the first round and had to win the next two. :D I did. The third match I wrestled someone from Utah. I won the first round by tech. Then my shoulder started giving out and I couldn’t drag or anything. It sucked. After that match was over I was angry. I went outside to cool off. It helped because it was raining. Then after awhile dinner came around. It was chicken and rice. Probably my favorite dinner so far. ;-) Then we went to the hotel and went to the meeting :) . After the meeting was over I went to my mom’s room to ask if she could do some laundry for me. She wouldn’t :P . So I got my cloths together and I will wash some tomorrow. Hope tomorrow is better.

Day 4 By Skyler Scott

Tuesday,

Today was fun watching the cadets! I learned a lot of things, like the good wrestlers that everyone thinks are world beaters don’t do fansey stuff.

Good wrestlers are mentaly tuff, stay in good position, move, and don’t make mistakes.

Day 3 By Brian Herold

Day 3

By Brian Herold,

This morning I was excited, yet I still had butterflies in
my tummy. While we, as a team, were warming up. I started to realize that all
we had to do was trust our technique and our coaches. In the long run we all
were winners in knowledge. We all gained more experience and I gained even more
trust. The team did GREAT!

Day 2 by Hayden Stockwell

Western Regional 2011, Pocatello, Idaho

Today I woke up at about 8 o’clock and had breakfast. I had about an egg worth of scrambled eggs, and a small pancake. I ate so little so I can make weight of 112. After that, I went back to my hotel room and took a shower. When I got out, I checked my weight and it was 109 lbs. So then I went to the lobby and played some iPod games with Thomas, Marco, and Gavin. Later, we went back to my room and played some Texas Hold ‘em with the deck of cards and clay poker chips I got for Christmas. Marco, Thomas, and I then left to Thomas and Marco’s room across the hotel and played with Thomas’ new iPad. In the middle of us playing, Dallas came in and grabbed Marco so he could give him a haircut. Then Thomas’ parents came after they went shopping. Some of the teammates like me, Thomas, Joe, Jon, Madison, Allison, Preston, Tye, and more unloaded the truck and put the groceries in Thomas’ room. After we finished, I tried to go my room by going through the back door, but I needed a key. So I had to go through the front door that goes to the lobby. About 6 minutes later, I got to my room and had a banana. I decided to go outside and play some football. Coach Jess walked by and said we were having a meeting before we left for weigh ins. We talked about money management and being wise about it and respecting people and representing the team and ourselves. When we got to the Holt Arena at Idaho State University, I checked my weight and jogged with Kody, Marco, and the new Austin make weight. I got my new gear for the tournament. It had a t-shirt, a pair of shorts, a cool Asics bag, and two awesome singlets. One of them was blue that showed a mountain with snow, and the other with a mountain with fire on it which was the red one. I then got my weight slips and went to the line to get my skin checked and to get weighed in. I weighed 105.6 lbs, I think I should of done more running before so I could possibly go to the 105 lbs bracket. When I left, Team Oregon had a big barbecue with plenty of hot dogs and hamburgers. We then got back to the hotel and went to another meeting. This time, it was about not pushing first year wrestlers on cutting weight, so they won’t hurt themselves and so they would enjoy the experience of wrestling. We also talked about staying healthy for tomorrow. After the meeting, Gavin, my dad, Kody, his dad, Jon, and I went to the convenient store and got some snacks really fast, and was able to make it to our room by curfew. Over all, it was a really good day. I’m a little bit nervous about tomorrow, but I know that I will do alright. All I have to do is to try my hardest, and rely on what I’ve learned in the Pitt. I’ll win a few matches and hopefully place. I feel good just to be able to be here, thanks to coach Pittman and my other coaches. My Peninsula Team really helps me out with wrestling and to be a better person. It’s good to be part of our team. Tomorrow is our first tournament, we are wrestling Folkstyle. I’ll be wrestling in the 112 lbs Schoolboy/Schoolgirl bracket, 5:30 a.m. will come soon so I better get some rest to be ready to do my best.
